Bending Section

bend-ing sek-shuh n

noun

Definition

The Bending Section of an articulating Borescope is a synonym for the articulating tip. It is literally the controllable tip of the Insertion Tube that can bend, swivel, or “snake” around the components being inspected. Bending Sections allow for a greater field of vision and most impressively, allow users to maneuver or steer the Insertion Probe through forks or bends that may be present in a Remote Visual Inspection (RVI). Articulation can be either motor-driven or manual. See Motor-Driven Articulation and Manual Articulation for definitions.
