Broken Pixels

broh-kuh n pik-suh ls

noun

Definition

Broken Pixels are an issue that plagues Fiberscopes and Flexible Fiberscopes. Fiber optic or glass cables can break or strain, causing the image to be peppered with tiny Broken Pixels or Black Dots. Once the bundle of cables start to lose their structural integrity, it becomes easier and easier for individual cables to break. If left untreated or unrepaired, these Broken Pixels can eventually obstruct the view of the inspected part, rendering a Fiberscope or Flexible Fiberscope useless.
