Non-Conductive Materials

non kuh n-duhk-tiv muh-teer-ee-uh l

noun

Definition

Non-conductive Materials can be used in almost all electrical and heat-control applications. In RVI terms, Non-conductive Materials are sometimes needed when inspections cannot afford an electrical current or spark (see Intrinsic Safety). Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) sometimes requires these materials in order to avoid the triggering of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Modern-day Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDS) can be triggered by something as simple as a static shock or even the presence of an infra-red light source.
